License & certification requirements

License required North Carolina: Work performed under a North Carolina Heating Group (H) contractor license, H-1, H-2, or H-3 classification, issued by the NC State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating & Fire Sprinkler Contractors. Technicians must hold the license or work under a licensed qualifier.
  • EPA 608 Universal certification required (covers Type I, II, and III refrigerant handling).
  • Valid NC driver's license and clean driving record.
  • 2+ years of residential HVAC install experience preferred.

Scope of work

  • Air-source and ducted/ductless heat pump installs and changeouts.
  • Heat pump water heater installations.
  • Electrical panel-adjacent work (disconnects, dedicated circuits, load coordination with electricians).
