Indiana offers two ways to work with us: a full-time, W-2 HVAC technician role and a 1099 independent subcontractor role. All work centers on heat pump installations and home electrification upgrades funded by federal Home Energy Rebate (HEAR/HOMES) programs. EPA 608 Universal certification is required for every role, and a valid HVAC license is mandatory for every position. There are no exceptions. Each position's specific licensing requirements are detailed below.

Full-Time Employee · W-2

HVAC Installation Technician

Indiana · Full-time, W-2 employee · Hourly + benefits

Install residential heat pumps and electrification upgrades for Indiana homeowners as part of a full-time Atlas crew, with steady, rebate-funded volume and benefits.

License & certification requirements

License required Indiana: Indiana has no statewide HVAC contractor license. Technicians must hold any HVAC contractor license, registration, or permit required by their local jurisdiction (for example, the City of Indianapolis / Marion County HVAC contractor license) for the areas they work in.
  • EPA 608 Universal certification required (covers Type I, II, and III refrigerant handling).
  • Valid Indiana driver's license and clean driving record.
  • 2+ years of residential HVAC install experience preferred.

Scope of work

  • Air-source and ducted/ductless heat pump installs and changeouts.
  • Heat pump water heater installations.
  • Electrical panel-adjacent work (disconnects, dedicated circuits, load coordination with electricians).
  • Energy-efficiency upgrades documented under federal HEAR/HOMES rebate programs.
Independent Contractor · 1099

HVAC Subcontractor
